The General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) was appointed by the City Council on October 13, 2009, and plays an important role in the public participation process for the General Plan update. The GPAC includes a diverse group of community representatives including residents, local employment and commerce leaders, youth and seniors, plus Palomar College and California State University San Marcos appointees.

The mission of the GPAC is to assist the General Plan project team in:

• Engaging the community in the General Plan Update process.
• Listening to community ideas and input on alternative approaches for the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance.
• Evaluating alternative approaches.
• Making recommendations on the updated General Plan and Zoning Ordinance to address future challenges.

The GPAC meets with the project team in accordance with the timetable for the various General Plan Update tasks (see Timeline). All meetings are open to the public, announced on this Web site and held at City Hall. Meetings start at 6:30 PM unless otherwise noted in the agenda.
